I’m a little behind on this one, but you may or may not have heard that Poundland have launched their own makeup range, The Makeup Gallery. If you’ve read my previous Poundland hauls, you’ll know I’m a massive fan of hunting around in Poundland for a bargain but how did this new affordable range of makeup stand up against it’s high street counterparts when the whole range costs £1 an item?
Gorgeous Flawless Long Lasting Foundation in shade Nude 3
Now I love a good coverage foundation especially for my pasty complexion speckled in blemishes. I’m quite happy with high street foundations but do tend to go for ones that have good coverage so was a bit dubious about this foundation. It couldn’t possibly be any good for just £1, could it? Boy was I wrong. Firstly there is a pretty good shade range so I matched my skin tone up quite easily. When I applied this, the formula was quite creamy but it blended so well, didn’t crease or look cakey. The wear on this foundation was actually pretty good, it lasted just as long as my normal foundation, which is most of the day, just slightly fading around my jawline. Overall it’s a pretty good foundation for £1.
Smoothly Does It Pressed Powder in shade Honey Beige 3
I use powder to set my makeup so normally go for something with a hint of colour or a translucent. Again the shade range was pretty good with these. It applied easily and didn’t crease but it wasn’t overly long lasting. It did need topping up as it went a little patchy but for £1 you can hardly complain.
Feeling Blush Blusher in shade Candyfloss 2
This comes in four shades and all of them looked really nice. I picked up the shade which gives a really nice rosy hint of colour to the cheeks. It did however have the same problem as the powder in that it wasn’t overly long lasting but I find that blushers generally aren’t, even the high end ones.
Pout It Out Lip Liner in shade Nude 1
First of all I love this colour, I’ve used it both as a liner and as a lipstick and it looks so pretty. Admittedly it is a little drying so I needed to use a clear lip balm over the top when applying it as lipstick but these are a bargain and well worth picking up in a few shades.
Take A Brow Brow Pencil in shade Brown 2
I never spend much on my brow pencil, simply because I go through them super quick, like ridiculously so. I thought I’d give this a whirl and see how it compared, needless to say I’ll probably switch to this pencil now. It matched my brows perfectly and doesn’t smudge at all. When sharpened, it’s really precisely and allows you to sculpt your brows to your hearts content, without making them look drawn on.
Overall I’m pretty pleased with the range and think for anyone starting out in makeup or looking for affordable makeup, this range is ideal. There was so much more from the new collection that I would have liked to try, but sadly my local store was wiped out almost completely. For £1 an item you can’t really go wrong.
Have you tried the new The Makeup Gallery range from Poundland? What were your thoughts? Till next time Bellas 🙂
